How is a medical transcriber trained at ‘Isource’?

We have a training module for medical transcribers hired by Isource; the primary objective of the training module is to make sure that they are able to comprehend the taped medical dictations correctly using word processing equipment.

Module is designed to raise the level of Performance & Competence:

1. Familiarization with transcription & dictation machines

Basic Criteria – The ability of the transcriber is judged if the

Trainee learns to hear the recorded audio and types them, again hears the recorded dictation to verify the correctness of the typed content.

Trainee learns & analysis the dictation and listening to the tone of the voice for correct punctuation.

Evaluation – the transcribers ability is screened

The skills acquired are judged on the completion of transcription

2. Type medical records on word processor

Basic Criteria – The ability of the


transcribers is judged if the

Trainee can prepare a transcribed document which is accurate and without any spelling, grammar and punctuation errors

Trainee is able to transcribe a document consisting of 45 lines in 30 minutes

Evaluation – the transcribers ability is screened


§ After the transcription assignments are complete


§ After the transcription tests.

Our Grading Policy

After an intense training session, we have a grading standard to rank the trainees; the parameters are as follows,

Grade A+ = 95% to 100%


Grade A = 90% to 94%


Grade B = 80% to 89%


Grade C = 70% to 79%

We hire & assign trainees only after they secure Grade A+ or Grade A, the trainees who are unable to secure the grades are put through training again, until they are able to get the required hiring grades. Over all, thanks to our training modules 90% of the trainees score A+ or A grades.
